Concrete Driveway Replacement Near Riverview Park

Custom Concrete & Truck Service replaces worn-out concrete driveways in the Alton neighborhoods around Riverview Park — a historic river-bluff city where steep, sloped driveways, some of the oldest housing stock in the Metro East, and decades-old slabs make replacement a job that has to be read carefully. We tear out, haul away, and repour with our own trucks. Free written estimates. Call 618-280-3200. **Locally owned in Belleville · Licensed & insured · Written warranty options · Same-day service.**

Riverview Park sits high on the bluffs above the Mississippi in Alton's Christian Hill neighborhood, with one of the best views of the river anywhere in the region. The homes around it are some of the oldest in the Metro East — historic Alton is a bluff town, built up the hillsides above the river more than a century ago, with narrow lots, steep grades, and driveways that have been in the ground a very long time.

We replace worn-out concrete driveways throughout the older Alton neighborhoods. When a slab on this kind of ground has cracked apart, slid, or heaved, patching won't hold. A full replacement — with the base rebuilt and the slope handled correctly — is what actually lasts on the bluffs.

Why Replacement Beats Patching Here

Steep, sloped driveways. Alton's bluff geography means a lot of driveways run up or down a real grade. On a slope, a failing slab does more than crack — it can slide and drop, and water sheets straight down it. Patching a sloped driveway that's already moving is a losing battle. A replacement lets us rebuild the base and reset the pitch so it drains and holds.

Some of the oldest slabs in the region. Historic Alton's driveways were often poured decades ago on bases built to old standards, and generations of Illinois freeze-thaw have worn them out. Once a slab is cracked end to end on ground like this, replacement is the honest call over one more round of patching.

Bluff soil and drainage. Water moving down a hillside is hard on concrete and on the base under it. When we replace a driveway here, we rebuild the sub-base and set the grade to control where that water goes, instead of letting it undercut the slab again.

Tight, narrow historic lots. The older Alton neighborhoods have narrow lots and driveways that run close to the house and the neighbors. Replacement on these properties takes a crew that can work tight access — which is exactly what our own trucks and equipment let us do.

Tear-Out and Haul-Away with Our Own Trucks

This is where the "Truck Service" in our name earns its keep. On a driveway replacement, one crew handles the whole job — breaking out the old slab, loading it, and hauling it off with our own trucks, then prepping the base and pouring new. No separate demolition company, no waiting on an outside hauler to clear the old concrete before we can start.

That control matters most on Alton's tight, sloped bluff lots, where coordinating multiple crews and outside haulers on a narrow hillside property turns a straightforward replacement into a scheduling headache. One crew, our own equipment, tear-out to pour.

Our Process

1. Free on-site estimate. We come out, look at the failing driveway, check the base, the slope, and the drainage, and measure. You get a written price before any work starts.

2. Tear-out and haul-away. We break out and remove the old driveway with our own crew and trucks and clear every piece of debris.

3. Base prep and grading. We rebuild and compact the sub-base and set the slope so water drains correctly down the grade, away from the house.

4. Forming and reinforcement. Forms and reinforcement go in, planned around the slope and the tight lot.

5. Pour and finish. We pour, finish, and set the surface texture, timed to the weather.

6. Curing. We tell you exactly how long to stay off it before foot and vehicle traffic.
