The Dirt Work Nobody Sees — and Why It Decides Everything
Excavation is the part of a project you never look at again once it's covered up, but it's the part that determines whether the concrete, building, or driveway above it holds. A slab poured on a base that wasn't graded flat, compacted properly, or drained correctly will crack, settle, and pond water no matter how good the pour was. Get the dirt work right and the rest of the project has a solid foundation to sit on.
We handle that base work in-house as part of being a full concrete contractor. Grading a site level, cutting and building up to the right elevation, compacting the sub-base so it doesn't settle unevenly, and setting the slope and drainage so water runs where it should — that's excavation, and we do it before we ever set a form. We also do it as a standalone service when another builder or contractor needs the site prepped right.
Our Own Equipment and Trucks, One Accountable Crew
We're locally owned out of Belleville and we run our own excavation equipment and dump trucks. That means the grading, the compaction, and the haul-away of spoil and excess dirt all happen with one crew on one schedule — no renting machines by the hour, no separate hauling company to clear the site.
It also keeps the work honest. Because we're the same crew that pours the concrete on most jobs, we prep the base to the standard the pour actually needs, not to a lowest-bid minimum that comes back to bite you later. If you've ever seen a new driveway crack within a couple of years, the base under it is usually why — and that's exactly the step we don't cut.
What Our Excavation Work Covers
Our excavation and site work centers on preparing ground for concrete and clearing what's in the way — grading, compaction, drainage, cut and fill, and hauling spoil off site. It ties directly into demolition and new pours when a project needs the full sequence. Below are the specific services, each with its own page.
Services We Offer as an Excavating Contractor
Site Prep & Grading In-house excavation, grading, compaction, and drainage — the base work that determines whether the concrete or structure above it lasts. Done to the standard the project actually needs.
Concrete Removal & Replacement When old concrete has to come out before the ground can be reworked, we demolish, excavate, haul it off, re-prep the base, and pour new — one crew through the whole sequence.
Dump Truck Hauling Haul-away of spoil, dirt, and debris with our own dump trucks, plus delivery of fill and base material. No separate hauler to schedule.
